Materials Testing Laboratory (LEM)

It is the first testing laboratory in the Dominican Republic internationally accredited in the Metalworking branch, with the Mexican Accreditation Entity (EMA).

In the teaching area, practices are carried out in the Mechanics of Deformable Solids and Materials Science and Engineering Laboratories. The INTEC Materials Testing Laboratory provides services that are based on the generation and rigorous application of scientific-technical knowledge with a high level of competitiveness, such as:

  • Tension (as in wood, plastics, metals, among others)
  • Compression
  • Flexion
  • Impact
  • fracture mechanics
  • Hardness
  • Metallography
  • Splitting
  • Cutting
  • Friction
  • Micro and macro length measurements
  • Determination of Weight (Mass) of Galvanizing
  • Determination of galvanized coating thickness
  • Quality control of materials and products

Cost of Laboratory services

The INTEC Materials Testing Laboratory provides physical and mechanical testing services for various materials and products. The table below shows the unit costs:

test type Unit cost per test tube
(without taxation)
total unit cost
per test tube
Compression RD$4 RD$4
Tension/Peeling/Tearing RD$4 RD$4
Bending/Bending RD$4 RD$4
Rockwell hardness RD$4 RD$4
Janka hardness RD$4 RD$4
Splitting RD$4 RD$4
Shearing RD$4 RD$4
Impact RD$1 RD$1
Metallography RD$5 RD$5
Determination of Weight [Mass] of Galvanizing RD$2 RD$2
Friction RD$4 RD$4
Micro Length Measurements RD$4 RD$4
Macro Length Measurements RD$2 RD$2
Determination of galvanized coating thickness RD$2 RD$2
Leeb Hardness RD$2 RD$2

All these prices refer only to cases in which the client supplies the parameters for carrying out the test as well as the test tube to be tested. For cases where the client or the laboratory is unaware of the applicable standards, or attachments or test tools need to be designed, or the client needs assistance to understand and interpret the results of the report, other consulting costs apply.

Discount is applied (to the total unit cost subtracted from the total amount with taxes included) when increasing the number of tests of the same type of test (Ex: more than 7 tensile tests, or more than 7 hardness tests, etc.) :
