Laboratory of Reactors and Bioreactors
The INTEC Reactors and Bioreactors Laboratory is a space focused on biotechnology, chemical and environmental engineering research that employs the use of reactors to obtain products of interest and for the treatment of wastewater. Designed to promote the growth of science and strengthen academic activity, transforming theory into practical applications.
Services
Among the research areas developed in the laboratory are the following:
- Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering: development of technologies for the production of biomolecules and cell cultures.
- Biotechnology with a focus on Circular Economy: research focused on biomass fermentation and waste transformation, valorising them in new products and development of biomaterials.
- Ecotoxicology studies of products and bioproducts.
- Analysis of biodegradability and compostability in a controlled environment for plastics, bioplastics and other materials.
- Development of biomass from microalgae and macroalgae for food and pharmaceutical purposes.
- Use of advanced technologies for wastewater treatment.
The laboratory fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together experts from different areas under the same objective, working with researchers, professors and students to develop research projects.
It contributes to the acquisition of practical skills at an academic level and to the advancement of knowledge in different scientific fields.
