Ing. Ramón Flores

Founder and first Rector of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, INTEC. He has a degree in engineering from Stanford University, United States, where he also obtained a master's degree in economics. Previously, he studied industrial engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus.

As an academic, Engineer Flores has extensive teaching experience at different universities in the Dominican Republic. In addition to INTEC, he founded the Technological Institute of Cibao, ITECO. He directed the School of Government of the Americas of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE).

He has extensive experience in the design and management of development projects. He has served as an advisor to the National Energy Policy Commission and in the Superintendency of Electricity. From 1982 to 1984 he was director of Economic Studies and Energy Policy at the Latin American Energy Organization in Quito, Ecuador.

His contributions to the Dominican educational system, both pre-university and in the field of higher education, are abundant and of great value. He has been an advisor to the Ministry of Education in various periods of government, at the same time that he has played a strategic role in the educational reform processes developed from the first Ten-Year Education Plan, 1992-2002.
