Ing. Rafael Marión-Landais

He was born in Santo Domingo on August 13, 1940. He attended primary and secondary school at the Colegio Dominicano de La Salle, graduating in 1957.

He then studied Civil Engineering at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), from which he graduated Cum-Laude in 1962, and then studied Mathematics and Structures at the Higher Technical School of Karlsruhe in Germany, during the period 1964-1965. 

Marion-Landais obtained a degree in Pedagogy Cum-Laude from the UASD in 1968.

He is a founding member of INTEC, one of its first professors and held the positions of rector 1990-1993, president of the Board of Regents, Director of Permanent Education, dean, president of CEAT-INTEC, building supervisor and graduate of the master's degree in the Administration of Higher Education.

He exhausted an extensive professional and public service career. In civil engineering, Marion-Landais worked on the design of Prestressed Bridges and Hospitals, in Germany; She designed and built industrial warehouses, multi-story buildings, buildings dedicated to different educational activities: primary, secondary, work and university education. In addition, she was president of the Dominican Oil Refinery (1986-1987), secretary of State for Industry and Commerce (1987-1988), and vice president of the Dominican Air Company (1989-1994).

He served as a teacher of university mathematics, analytical geometry, differential equations, theory of structures, resistance of materials, reinforced concrete designs, metallic structures, advanced mechanics (elasticity theory), slab and shell design, among others.

He died at 83 years of age.
