Dr. Miguel J. Escala

First Professor Emeritus of INTEC, his teaching work, of more than four decades, begins at the Colegio Dominicano de la Salle. Psychology graduate Magna Cum Laude from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, UASD in 1974, conceived a Postgraduate in Educational Psychology at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo INTEC, 1980. He completed a Master's and Doctorate in Higher Education from Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). 

In 2006 he was recognized with the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award. In 2011, he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his contribution to engineering education, by the LACCEI international network.

He has been a consultant in the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic and in the Ministry of Education of Costa Rica, in Action for Basic Education, EDUCA, and educational institutions and related projects. He was Coordinating Consultant for Technical Cooperation, and Coordinator of the Project for the Strengthening of Professional Technical Education that was executed by the APEC Foundation for Educational Credit, FUNDAPEC with funds from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

In the period 2002-2005 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Higher Education for Latin America and the Caribbean, appointed by the Director General of UNESCO.

He worked as a Research Professor, affiliated with the Center for Educational Studies, and the Center for Innovation in Higher Education, in the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities. In addition, he was Executive Director of the Institute for University Management and Leadership (IGLU) of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (OUI).
