English placement test

The test includes three aspects: Listening Comprehension, Language and Reading. The scale goes from 40 to 200 points.

A. About the required scores:

The curriculum (list of subjects and career requirements) has two language requirements for all majors:

  1. Take English subjects according to the career and the established level (See Step 5 leveling table)
  2. For graduation purposes, achieve an established score of the ELASH test (See Step 5 Resolution No. 01-26 / 2015)

New students:

Must take the ELASH test during the admissions process on the dates provided in the Admissions calendar.

  • Graduates of INTEC who pursue another undergraduate program, will have their corresponding level taken from the one acquired in their first test.
  • If you have taken an international tests, check section B.
B. About exemptions:

1. For students of any quarter, the equivalence of ELASH will be accepted. These are the international TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, Cambridge Exam and VEC tests, according to established tables and the submission of the original certificate with less than two years of expiration. The Coordinator of the ELASH test will approve the equivalences and report these accordingly to the Registry.

TOEFL iBT

If you take the TOEFL iBT you are not given printed results but these can be seen in a web portal. In order for INTEC to carry out the exemption, the original printed document is required. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out the paperwork for the shipment of the corresponding documents from the USA to the DR.

If you have already taken the test, you will have to request an ETS service with an additional cost to send the printed results. If you are going to take the test, identify your p.o. box address in the USA to avoid having to pay additional cost.
