Dr. Margarita Rodríguez
Architect, graduated cum laude from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU). She completed a Master's degree in Industrial Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), thanks to an IDB-INTEC / LASPAU scholarship, and a Master's degree in Marketing at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). In 2014, she earned her PhD in Education, cum laude, from the University of Murcia, Spain.
Since 1987, she has been a founding professor of the Industrial Design program at INTEC, an institution where she has worked for nearly four decades as a teacher, researcher, and academic manager. She served as Associate Dean of the Engineering Department from 2009 to 2014 and as interim Dean in 2025, in addition to coordinating teacher training programs and research projects at the Center for Educational Studies. Her experience includes leading national projects in the design and management of school furniture for the Ministry of Education, as well as consulting and collaborating with international organizations such as the OAS and private entities linked to design and innovation.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including the "Mujer es Artes" Award in the field of Industrial Design, the Anna Bing Arnold Medal, and several distinctions such as "Professor with the Best Evaluations" at INTEC. She has been the recipient of a UCLA Fellowship and Research Grant and has published research and papers in international journals and conferences on design, ergonomics, school infrastructure, and sustainability. Through the Igino Giordani Foundation (FOCO), which she has chaired since 2000, she has promoted the creation and management of the Café con Leche School in Santo Domingo Oeste, an educational and community project that reflects her commitment to comprehensive education and social development.
